131: AFTER KARL BODMER (1809-1983) PEHRISKA-RUHPA AQUATINT

A hand colored and heightened aquatint, 'Pehriska-Ruhpa,' plate 17, published by Ackermann & Co., London, wove paper, Bodmer blind stamp lower center of image plate. Full length portrait of a native American, Two Ravens, chief of the Hidasta, in colorful animal skin clothing, holding a long pipe. Plate/image field 20-1/4 x 14-1/4 inches, 24-7/8 x 18-1/8 inches. Circa 1841. There are two states of this print. This lot does not have the three figures lower right corner background.
Excellent condition overall, very minor toning. Penciled notations '250' and 'K-RE-15' in lower margin. Not laid down, hinge taped to larger mat with Mylar overlay.
