104: 1841 CONTINENTAL SCHOOL PASTORAL VILLAGE LANDSCAPE

A Flemish (Belgian or Dutch) oil on panel depicting sheep and a goat by a river - a Minster beyond. Inscribed 'fecit' (latin for 'created it') in red lower left with date of 1841. The partial and illegible remains of an artist's signature appear to the left of the date. An unsigned work of very fine quality displayed in fine frame. The panel measures 21 x 30 and the frame 31 x 39 inches. Provenance: acquired through Henry Ruth Fine Arts - Kansas City.
A small droplet of unknown substance at top center and a small handful of surface inpainting brushwork visible under UV light. Signature has flaked away and has an inpainting repair in it's place.
