29: A MASSIVE CARVED OAK DINING TABLE WITH FEMALE SPHINX

The important Egyptian Revival oak dining table with circular top overhanging a carved skirt embellished with a series of applied roundels divided by three convex flutes bearing original gilt decoration, atop an outstanding massive oak base set with four back-to-back female sphinx figures in great detail and original gilt wash seated upon four platforms raised on carved squashed bun feet with their original gilt decoration.
Measures 30.5 x 93.5 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of damage or repair, light wear at some edges.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
