9: A CIVIL WAR ERA SMITH & WESSON MODEL 2 ARMY REVOLVER
Smith & Wesson 32 caliber. Model No. 2 Army (serial #:23881)
The 32 long rim fire six shot revolver with tip-up action, 5-inch octagon barrel with rib, non-fluted cylinder, spur trigger and rosewood grips was manufactured during the American Civil War based on the serial number (serial number 35,731 was made around May 1. 1865). This model was a favorite private purchase gun among Union officers, and others, due the size and caliber.
Very good condition, noting surface oxidation, pitting inside and on the cylinder face, some nice brown patina on the frame though not the cylinder.
