The exceptional cross stitch sampler of silk on linen, a floral wreath frame centered by an upper central flower basket and bird in flight, a lower oval floral wreath surrounds the maker's name and date of Feb 8, 1832, along the bottom two memorials flank an unusual cross stitched landscape view perhaps inspired by and certainly in the manner of a Schuylkill River view by Philadelphia artist Thomas Doughty who is associated with the Hudson River School, which this scene resembles as well.
Sight size measures 19.25 x 21.5 with a framed size of 22.5 x 24.5 inches.
Overall toning, some fading and spotting.
