39: A BLUE DECORATED FIVE GALLON STONEWARE STORAGE JAR

The semi-ovoid form with thick rolled rim over a short collar and sloping shoulders set with lug handles, the body decorated with freehand cobalt blue slip spirals and hanging leaves, salt glaze, no maker's markings.
Measures 16 x 11 inches.
Very good condition, noting red residue as is the piece was painted at one time. Small chip on the top rim, sizable chips on the unglazed portion of the base, rubs to the body. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs.
