31: A 19TH C. JUG WITH COBALT SLIP FERN SIGNED JOHN BURGER

The stoneware jug with thick, tooled mouth over slope shoulder and thick cobalt blue slip decoration of numeral 3 within freehand fern wreath, salt glaze, impressed signature mark of JOHN BURGER ROCHESTER embellished in blue.
Measures 17 x 10 inches.
Very good condition. A very small flake on the mouth, large firing pit on one side. There are no other chips, cracks or repairs.
