28: A FINE PAIR OF SANTA FE ENGINE CLASSIFICATION LAMPS

The models listed as No. 85 Acme Engine Classification Lamp in the 1907 catalog and described as being 'Equipped with two or three white lenses as desired. Colored glass discs carried in a pocket on the outside of the lamp. Frames for holding color discs are back of lenses, permitting signals to be changed from outside of the lamp. Plain interior glass in lens openings of lamp body prevents flame from being extinguished while changing signals.'

This handsome pair is in very good condition, each is embossed SANTA FE on the shoulder.
Measures 12.5 x 10 x 9 inches each.
The lantern marked RIGHT has a cracked clear glass interior lens, the roundels are not cracked, the colored glass disc appears to have a line but is not cracked or repaired, it does have a small chip. The exterior is very good, possible old repaint.

The lantern marked LEFT is depicted in the images with three colored glass discs, one of these is chipped and cracked, two are free from chips, cracks or repairs, a clear glass interior lens is cracked. The exterior is very good, possible old repaint. Between the two, all white roundels are abraded on the exterior.
