The Mother of God, Hodigitria icon with the Mother of God holding her son and gesturing towards him as the child sits in His mother's arms and gives a blessing, the high forehead of the Christ Child is meant to symbolize his wisdom and divinity.
Measures 15 x 13 inches.
Very good condition, noting display in a later frame.
Provenance: The multi-generation collection of an early Kansas City family in the same home since 1962.
