155: A FRAMED SAILOR'S GREAT WHITE FLEET EMBROIDERY C. 1909

The Japanese export embroidery with photography portrait of a sailor over an elaborate silk and metallic thread embroidered American eagle with glass eye and against federal shield surrounded by thirteen floating stars on silk ground over an even more elaborate image of the USAT Sherman depicted in tiny silk threads along with two other embroidered oval frames with photos.

The USAT Sherman sailed with Roosevelt's Great White Fleet 1907 - 1909.
Sight size is 31 x 26 and frame measures 34.5 x 29.5 inches.
Good condition, noting fracture of the eagle's glass eye, minor stress marks and folds in the base material.
