A RARE DOUBLE WALL STAINED/CONFETTI GLASS LEADED SHADE

8: A RARE DOUBLE WALL STAINED/CONFETTI GLASS LEADED SHADE

The fine and rare 20th century leaded shade designed by Marlin Rotach and crafted by Chris Bennett is nicely matched with a contemporary art pottery base of complimentary proportions. In the images here, the shade displays a nice warm glow and balanced palette. In person, it's more along the lines of spectacular. Somehow, it was crafted with an exterior layer of confetti glass leaded in what some lamp companies call 'Geometric' pattern, while the interior is leaded with a second design having red stained glass tulips - all within the same shade. Together, the two layers create a visual treat when lit. The base of organic theme in matte green glaze is attributed to the Arts and Clay Company.

Marlin Rotach is a well-known and highly accomplished Kansas City watercolorist (see lot 30 in this catalog). Chris Bennett, in addition to being a skilled craftsman, is a passionate collector of fine art and art objects from various cultures.
