227: A FINE GEORGE III STERLING SILVER DISH CROSS

The large sterling silver dish cross with central Adam style burner having an engraved family crest is joined by horizontal arms on scrolling uprights with ornate pad feet, stamped mark of Robert Makepeace II on some components, mark of London 1774 on others, rampant lion on the burner, arms and supports.
Measures 4 x 12 inches, total weight as shown 29.05 ozt including any non-silver apparatus that may or may not be inside the burner area.
Very good condition.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org).
