The low, bulbous, flattened form with high C-scroll handle set on circular foot with concentric rings bears the stamped hallmarks for London, 1786 under the foot.
Measures 5 x 10.5 inches. Weighs 18.05 ozt.
Very good condition, noting a small nick at one edge of the hinged lid, an faint engraved crest.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org).
