264: A GORHAM STERLING PITCHER WITH HERCULES MEDALLION

The Victorian Greek Revival sterling silver pitcher with pronounced handle embellished by a Hercules mask medallion joining the bi-level upper rim trimmed in Greek key pattern, waisted neck over a wreath of hand engraved ivy, maker's mark and company date mark of 1871 on the base along with a hand engraved date of 1872.
Measures 9.5 x 7.5 inches. Weighs 24.45 ozt.
Very good condition noting the monogram.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts.
