359: ANTIQUE JAPANESE TANSU, IKEBANA AND CHOP STICKS

The Tansu chest with iron mounts is offered with a double-gourd Ikebana basket and a Chinese Qing Dynasty export chopstick/knife set with hallmarked silver mounts.
Chest measures 31 x 34.5 x 19 inches. Utensils are 12 inches in length.
The chest has interior damage, there are areas of wear and chips to both the basket and the Chinese utensil set.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org).
