360: A RARE PARCEL-GILT SILVER SAUCE BOAT MARKED SAZIKOV

The graceful boat form with gilt interior, applied rococo swirls at the rim and stippled C-scroll handle is raised on C-scroll feet with beading and acanthus accents. Each side bears an applied rococo cartouche, one centered by the letter S. Stamped hallmarks include that of the famous maker Sazikov, one of a handful of silversmiths chosen to supply the Russian Imperial family. Stamped markings include the maker's name in cyrillic, the Imperial Warrant double-headed eagle hallmark, town mark of St. Petersburg, 84 standard designation and assay mark of Ivan Evstigneev 1874.
Measures 6 x 10.5 inches. Weighs 24.90 ozt.
Very good condition. There are no issues of damage, repair or heavy wear.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org).
