The carved and painted wood visage with shell eyes and elaborate headdress of various fibers is attributed to the people of New Ireland Province, Papua New Guinea and their mortuary feast dance.
Measures 19 x 7 x 14 inches.
Very good original condition, there are no issues of major damage or repair.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts.
