277: A LARGE CARVED WOOD AFRICAN BOBO ANTELOPE MASK

The Bobo Antelope mask in wood from Burkina Faso with long curling horns, half dome eyes, long ears and serrated teeth is embellished with a triangular pattern carved in bas-relief over entire head.

Provenance: Morton and Estelle Sosland. The Soslands began acquiring examples of African and other tribal art in the 1960s, possibly earlier. Over the last two decades, objects of African Art with provenance to Morton and Estelle Sosland have been sold for up to six figures at major auctions in New York and California.
Measures 47 x 14 x 14 inches.
Good condition as shown with overall occasional chips and minor insect damage.
