327: A SET OF TWELVE LIMOGES ARTIST SIGNED SERVICE PLATES

Each of the 10.5 inch plates with gold encrusted edge and cobalt rim enclosing a hand painted floral spray is embellished with elaborate gold enamels in high relief. The center spray is largely hand painted within the decaled outline. An unidentified artist's signature is painted by hand on each plate in the lower right center. The back of each plate bears the mark of Charles Ahrenfeldt (1807-94) Limoges.
Each measures 10.5 inches in diameter.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of wear.
Provenance: The estate of Morton and Estelle Sosland.In Kansas City, the Sosland family name is synonymous with both giving, and the arts. Of their many contributions to the community, 'The Soslands gave one of the nation's finest private collections of American Indian art to the Nelson-Atkins' museum (nelson-atkins.org). The content of this auction bears testament to their keen eye and varied interests. No property has been added; each lot here originates with the Sosland family and sells without reserve.
