589: A FINE 19TH C. MINIATURE PORTRAIT OF A GENTLEMAN

The finely executed likeness of a gentleman in circa 1830s garb painted by hand and displayed in an oval frame with pendant bail is unsigned and the sitter is not identified. The back side is centered by an oval frame for hair enclosed by an unusual blue glass oval frame with cracks. There is no hair memorial, only the cloth backing.
Measures 2.75 x 2 inches.
Good condition, noting a small surface nick near the sitter's chin, visible wear around the extreme outer edge, loose bezel as shown and four cracks in the cobalt blue glass decoration back side.
