519: A JAPANESE INRO WITH NETSUKE AND OJIME CIRCA 1840

The Japanese lacquer three case Inro of flattened oval form is decorated in high carved tsuishu takamakie, gold hiramakie and takamakie and other inlaid details, all on a roiro ground, signed in gold lacquer to the base 'Bunsai' with a red kao and with a red lacquer tablet inset to the base reading 'Jugyoku, at the age of 75''; mounted with a carved Ojime in the form of a monkey astride a log of umimatsu beneath which appears to be a metal (silver?) ant; and with a lacquer hako-netsuke in the form of a pine cone lacquered in nashiji to the interior.
Measures 2.75 x 2.75 x 0.75 inches.
Very good original condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear.
