723: A BRONZE OR BRASS AFRICAN SMOKING PIPE ATTR CAMEROON

The large pipe, probably bronze and attributed to the African Bamileke tribe of Cameroon is comprised of a long stem with spiral cast filigree ball ornament over a larger round filigree bowl with geometric shapes above an elephant head with tusks. These highly ornamental smoking pipes served to highlight the social standing of the individual. The display is included.
Measures 22 x 6 x 6 inches.
