A PATE DE VERRE GLASS DISH WITH MOUSE SIGNED A WALTER

655: A PATE DE VERRE GLASS DISH WITH MOUSE SIGNED A WALTER

Victor Amalric Walter (1870 - 1959)
(Circa 1930)
The butterscotch colored figure of a mouse peering into a oval dished basin shaded to clambroth, incised mark of A Walter Nancy by the French designer and decorator Amalric Walter (alternate spellings Almeric Walter and Almaric Walter) with previous ties to Cristalleries Daum at Nancy, France. Walter was responsible for no less than 500 designs in the pate de verre technique (French for molten glass). Due to the difficulty of the process and Walter's insistence on perfection, few examples of any one exist.
Measures 2.75 x 6.5 x 3.75 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of wear.
