'Dear Jimmy - Many thanks to you and the rest of the fellows who went in for me on this lunatic stuff. I wouldn't fight this matter myself, but I sure appreciate the friends who did. I bet you had some hilarious sessions working me into a Sunday school character. Did you get your job? Will a word of approval from me be worth anything at any time. If so write your ticket and I'll sign. Yours, Tom.'
