21: A FRENCH HOLLOW BODY COPPER ROOSTER WEATHERVANE C. 1900

The exuberant crowing figure is topped by a stylized zig-zag comb over folky bulging eye and angular wide open beak on arching neck joining the highly embossed two-piece body surmounted by a jaunty tail of sculpted copper plumes. The whole stands firmly on drumstick legs with spurs joining a copper orb, great overall detail and nice verdigris patina, particularly on one side. The stand and rooster are circa 1900 or earlier.
Measures 81 x 30 x 22.5 inches.
Very good sturdy, original condition throughout, no damage, repair or heavy wear, noting a bend to the directional for North.
