The drum microscope with brass tube hand engraved 'Charles Chevalier, Ingenieur Opticien, Breveté, Palais Royal 163, Paris', the optician instrument maker's address between 1832 and 1849. The original mahogany case with hand cut dovetailed construction is included along with slides and an additional accessory.
Measures 3.5 x 10.5 x 4.75 inches.
Very good condition as shown, free from damage, repair or heavy wear.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
