432: A 19C. GRAIN PAINTED BOX WITH BLOWN GLASS PILL BOTTLES

The slide-top box with painted grain decoration on pine is filled with old cotton batting and fourteen thinly blown aqua-colored glass pill bottles having pulled necks, flat tooled lips and small globular bases with rough pontil comes the theory that these would have served as a doctor's pill / apothecary bottles.
Bottles range from 4.25 x 0.75 to 6 x 1.5 inches.
Very good condition throughout, no damage, repair. Light wear to the box exterior as expected.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
