508: A COLLECTION OF MID-19TH CENTURY BOOKS


The 31 volumes of history, military, engineering, etiquette and more, most are leather bound, titles as shown, circa mid-19th century. Plus two early 19th century bibles: The Holy Bible, Containing the Old and New Testaments, N. & J. White, New York, 1834, and The Holy Bible, American Bible Society, New York, 1830.

The Elements of Fortifications book is a limited edition reproduction by Museum Restoration Service dated 1968 and numbered 575/700.
Measure 4 to 11 inches.
Books show shelf wear, toning and foxing throughout, some with loose pages and covers. Smaller 1830 Bible with missing front and back pages, both Bibles with toning and foxing through out, scattered tatters and tears.
Provenance: The estate of a collector active in Historical Re-enactment, Surveying the Frontier, Scientific Instruments. Lewis and Clark.
