653: AMERICAN HIGHLY CARVED OAK SAVONAROLA CHAIR C. 1900

The classic form with design influence dating to ancient Rome is, in this case, embellished with high relief and detailed figural carvings of Zeus Ammon's horned visage and lions having open mouths along with shell motifs and paw feet, all carved from quarter sawn oak retaining a dark, warm patina.
Measures 42 x 24 x 21.5 inches.
Very good original condition throughout, no damage, repair or wear.
