689: AMERICAN CARVED OAK SAVONAROLA CHAIR CIRCA 1900

The classic form with design influenced by ancient Rome curule chairs is, in this case, constructed with a cartouche shape back of highly figured grain and applied carvings flanked by vertical stiles having figural open-mouth lions' heads and acanthus leaves over the serpentine arms above horizontal struts and curved seat on arched legs raised on scroll feet of quarter sawn oak.
Measures 43.5 x 24.5 x 28 inches.
