The gravid composition in reddish earthenware with spontaneous mud-crack like glaze is scratch signed by the artist on the base.

Before her study with Yoshiro Ikeda at Kansas State University where she achieved her M.F.A. in the year 2000, Mika Negishi (Laidlaw) studied and served as an apprentice practicing traditional pottery making in Japan.
Measures 16 x 13 x 11.5 inches.
Very good condition. There are no chips, cracks, repairs, scratches or areas of heavy wear.
Provenance: Personal collection of Jan Weiner (1935-2010). Jan represented this artist, and many others, through her galleries in Topeka and Kansas City, Missouri.
