213: A 17TH / 18TH C. OIL ON CANVAS PORTRAIT OF CHARLES I

A full length oil on canvas portrait attributed to that of Charles I of England in hunting pose. The figure stands in full light from the left dressed in the exquisite attire of a gentleman, holding a gun in one hand and freshly killed partridge in the other, darkening forest in the background at sunset. The opinion of conservator Duard Marshall places the period of this work at circa 17th century, the period of Charles I. Canvas measures 80.5 x 40, frame measures 83 x 43 inches. Provenance: The Joseph Candioto Trust. We ship in-house for all items with the exception of very large and or very fragile pieces and some international shipments.
This work has been re-lined at least one time, numerous areas of inpainting and repair, minimal actual loss, see the attached conservator's statement January, 1984.
