59: A 19TH C. AMERICAN BLACK CHILD FIGURAL BROOM HOLDER

An articulated figural black boy buggy whip or broom holder, the clasped hands and rounded open arms are spring loaded and hinged to accommodate and hold firm a long cylindrical object like a broom or buggy whip handle. Identical examples have been found with a patent date of 1894 and attribution to the F. E. Allen Company. This example is in very good original condition and with its original paint. There are no markings, but a hole for mounting on the wall. Measures 5.25 x 2 x 2 inches.
Very good original condition, original paint, the are no cracks, breaks or repairs.
