56: A 19TH CENTURY CARVED MARBLE LION OF LUCERNE

The carved recumbent lion with head resting on a shield, supported on a natural plinth base, dark Verde Alpi marble. Modeled after the Lion of Lucerne monument honoring the bravery of swiss guards during the storming of the Tuileries Palace in Paris during the French Revolution.
Bear measures 3.5 x 6.5 x 2.25 inches, 17.7 x 7 inches folded.
Good condition noting an old repair at one end of the base. .
