AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY EMPIRE INFLUENCE CENTER TABLE

35: AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY EMPIRE INFLUENCE CENTER TABLE

A rosewood, burl veneered and gold painted circular center table in the Empire style. The figured top with inlaid banding, a thin brass line of inlay, and broad crossbanding, the three leafy scroll-carved supports above a triform stretcher with roundel medallion, raised on carved claw and bun feet. A handsome and unusual example in nice condition with nice patina.
Measures 30.5 x 37 inches.
Very good sturdy condition, a well-done 2-inch by 3-inch veneer repair in the wide outside rosewood band on top and on the rosewood veneered skirt, a second less professional filled area of repair on the skirt, the skirt appears as a slightly lighter color, minor bits of loss and repair on the triform base, overall scattered bits of loss from the legs, typical age separations/split to the top and the base.
