128: AFTER ALEXIS GRIMOU (C. 1678-1733) OIL ON CANVAS

A well executed example of this famous painting displayed in an exceptional 18th century carved wood frame. Oil on canvas known as 'Portrait of a Young Pilgrim' after the work by Alexis Grimou, painted circa 18th century, image of a young boy holding a hat and a staff, unsigned, a choice example of both painting and frame.
Canvas measures 31.5 x 24.5, the frame is 42.5 X 35.5 inches.
Very good condition, not relined, no major in-painting, craqueluer, a puncture in the top center and a small tear on the upper right in the background.
