10: WWII JAPANESE SHIN-GUNTO SAMURAI SWORD

Gilded fuchi, kabutogani, semegani, and sayajiri. Tsuba marked 388, two rayed seppas. Laced ito, painted base grip (no rayskin) with chrysanthemum menuki, with double tassels. Signed tang also with red and white paper tag, anchor stamped near the hamachi. Also two red tags attached to a ring. Includes lacquered wooden scabbard.
Blade measures 25 inches, 34.25 inches from tip to tang. Scabbard 27 inches.
Shows some wear and age, some wear and nicks to cutting edge, general age to individual parts. Some lacquer loss to scabbard and general fading or oxidation to gilded parts. As shown.
