An early 18th century Portrait of a Gentleman, attributed to Francois de Troy (French, 1645 - 1730) via a brass tag of the period on the frame, oil on canvas, displayed in an oval gilt wood frame with flower and foliate carved reserves. de Troy was a principal painter to King James II when he was in exile at Saint-Germain-en-Laye. He was also Director of the Academie Royale de peinture et de sculpture.
Art measure 30 x 25 inches. Overall size measures 37.5 32.5 inches.
Very good condition. No damage or major repair to either painting or frame.
