168: A 19TH C. DIAMOND AND GEMSTONE SET BUTTERFLY BROOC

A 14k gold animated figural brooch with diamonds and gemstones. The articulated wings are covered in seventy-six rose cut diamonds of varying size accented by emeralds that measure approx 3.5 millimeters set in yellow gold. The animated wings are connected by a long coiled spring strung through the central body with an 11 x 9 millimeter fiery opal in the abdomen, there are three small 1 millimeter Almondine garnets on each wing near the body. Stamped with marking of 585 back side, measures 1.5 x 2 inches, weight 19 grams.
Very good condition. There are no missing stones, no damage or repair detected, no visible wear. Very, very minor abrasion on the surface of the opal detected under magnification, there are no cracks in the opal.
