31: BERNARD CORMAN BRONZE TITLED 'CADDY CORNER'

Bernard Corman
Caddy Corner
Bernard Corman is a internationally recognized artist known primarily for his bronze sculptures that blend vintage automobiles with sometimes bizarre themes to illustrate alternate looks at common terminology and colloquialisms. This sculpture, titled 'Caddy Corner' is his most famous work. It depicts an elongated tail-finned Cadillac 'rounding a corner. Of his inspiration, the artist said of this work, 'One very early piece of mine was a Caddy going around a corner. I called it Caddy Corner, and it had been influenced by old Tex Avery cartoons I used to watch as a kid where cars would twist and tiptoe around and things like that.' This sculpture is a cold painted bronze, mounted on a mahogany wood base, signed Corman on the front bumper. Bernardo Corman also created a two ton version of this sculpture for a private commission.
Work measures 3 x 19 x 10 inches on a 2 inch tall base.
Very good condition, all original and without condition issue of any type.
