335: AN UNUSUAL SCHERENSCHNITTE-LIKE FOLK ART CROSS

The process being a stacking of identically shaped die cut paper shapes in successively smaller pieces to form a pyramidal profile of the overall design, mounted on velvet and displayed in a carved walnut cross-corner frame circa 1870s.
Measures 12.5 x 10.5 inches.
Very good condition, surprisingly intact, only ten or fewer tiny thin pieces of paper lost from the entire complex composition.
