7066: A 1903 OMAHA-AK-SAR-BEN CALF FIGURAL PAPERWEIGHT

A nice quality 1903 cast iron figural paperweight, a calf branded with an S, impressed lettering 'OMAHA-AK-SAR-BEN-1903' around the base, original nickel plating. The Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben was an Omaha civic organization whose goal was to promote entertainment other than gambling and saloons for their state fair circa 1895. Ak-Sar-Ben is 'Nebraska' spelled backwards.
Measures 3.5 x 3.25 x 2.25 inches.
