153: A FINE AND RARE SALESMAN'S SAMPLE RAIL CAR COUPLER
The 'Sharon' model, an excellent example in near mint condition, made by The National Malleable Castings Company of Cleveland Ohio, the nicely finished cherry wood block serves as a display demonstration of the car coupling mechanism and is mounted with the finely cast iron knuckle with its completely original surface patina and traces of the original copper flash accents, the cherry wood block bears an embossed brass tag that reads - MANUFACTURED BY - THE NATIONAL MALLEABLE CASTING CO. CLEVELAND OHIO, original copper flash decoration to the lift lever mechanism and center beam and the offset bell-form base. The latest patent date is 1905. Note the hook mounted on the left hand underneath side of the cherry wood block.
Measures 5.5 h x 8.5 x 6 inches wide.
Excellent, original, operable untouched condition, a very minor rub on one outside top edge of the knuckle and very minor light wear to some high points and edges throughout, there are no other issues of scratches, wear, repairs, losses or restoration.
