207: A HIGHLY CARVED AMERICAN OAK DINING SET ATTR HORNER

Attributed to RJ Horner, Curio: Rectangular top with elliptical ends surmounted by a pierced carved crest flanked by figural putti, over conforming case fitted with a single glazed door with carved encadrement, sides with curving glass encased by carved encadrements, the door flanked by engaged caryatid columns raised on hairy ball and claw feet.SideboardRectangular bevel mirrored back with large figural winged griffin supports surmounted by a pierced carved crest flanked by figural putti, medallion center and hanging garland; rectangular base fitted with two projecting drawers with carved lion's masks supports flanked by carved acanthus over two drawers each centering a figural putto in high relief riding on dolphins encircled by scrolling acanthus separated by three caryatids supports with fruit baskets at the waist and ball & claw feet. The large carved door panels have playful putti riding on dolphins and surrounding scroll carving over 2 drawers with lion head pulls. Table: Circular top with carved edge, scalloped frieze divided in four parts each featuring swirling acanthus flanking lion's head mask, supported on a thick cylindrical pedestal and four figural caryatids legs with fruit carved at the waist terminating in large ball a claw feet, and joined by a quadripartite stretcher raised on casters. Chairs: Each with square padded back surmounted by a carved cabochon crest in high relief flanked by a pair of putti over an upholstered trapezoidal seat, the two arms chairs with satyr caryatid arm supports having carved-fruit band at waist and terminating in hairy three-toed feet and the side chairs with caryatid front legs joined by an H-stretcher.
Table measures 31 x 60 inches. host chairs measure 50 x 27.5 x 24.5 inches. Side chairs measure 45.5 x 20 x 20.5 inches. China cabinet measures 81 x 56 x 20 inches. Sideboard measures 81 x 70 x 29 inches.
One missing element on the left side of the buffet. Otherwise mint, professionally restored condition, there are no other issues of damage, repair, replacement, wear or repair.
