188: A 19TH C. FRENCH BRONZE STATUE CLOCK FOR SPAULDING
The fine white marble case adorned with bronze decorative elements and figural allegories. The case topped by a standing cherub above billowing bronze clouds buffeting his quiver, the figures reaching downward offering a wreath to a kneeling classical maiden on one side of the clock dial, birds and toppled urns on robes decorate the opposite side of the dial, the case base with applied frieze of scrolling flowering acanthus and raised on four bronze toupie feet. Signed Spaulding & Co Chicago & Paris Made In France, the enamel dial decorated with polychrome floral garlands painted by hand hand painted Arabic numerals, original gilt hands, time and strike movement signed L. Marti.
Measures 16.5 x 13 x 6.75 inches.
