131: A VERY UNUSUAL 19TH CENT AMERICAN BEDROOM SET

The two-piece set with openwork carved walnut crest of blossoms and scrolls over rectangular molded cornice above a horizontal frieze of relief carved tassels flanked by openwork carvings, large burled panels on the head and foot board of the bed, the dresser with swivel mirror having lamp stands each side of the frame. The dresser top is fitted with three slabs of grey marble flecked in pink, white and black with intaglio carved and beveled edges, the center portion fitted with a seemingly unique fold-out writing surface fitted in green felt over the unusual configuration of five drawers, the top center being divided and lined in green felt.
Dresser measures 90.5 x 54.5 x 25 inches. Bed measures 94 x 84 x 65 inches.
Good to very good condition overall, minor wear, dryness, small signs of normal use and wear, no major damage or repair, apparently all original, there may be a break form the crest carving of each.
