Two French chairs, the first arm chair with bellflower carved medallion back with carved rosette crest enclosing a needlepointed padded back featuring a contemporary abstract flower and foliate design, conforming carved arms with needlepointed floral pads and terminating in carved scrolling acanthus, over a conforming needlepointed seat, beaded and ribband rail, and raised on four tapering fluted cylindrical legs ending in stiff-leaf carved capped feet. Plus a gilded side chair, the shield-shaped carved back of blossoming vines and rocaille crest enclosing a needlepointed padded back of an abstract design against a bright China blue ground over a padded serpentine seat of conforming needlepointed design with rocaille-carved shaped rail, raised on cabriole legs headed by similar rocaille knees and ending in French toes.
Measures 37 x 24 x 24 and 34 x 20.5 x 20.5 inches.
