86: A WELLER EOSIAN ROSE 25-INCH EXHIBITION VASE CA. 1904

A rare and beautiful Weller Art Pottery vase, signed by hand underside of the base, Eosian Weller, artist signed E Roberts along the side in pink slip, the Rose Eocean line, decoration of thistles against dramatically shaded ground that evolves in subtle indiscernible fashion from a deep green through various hues to beautiful rose, pink and finally near white. The height is nearly 26 inches.
Measures 25.5 inches.
Very good original condition, there is a 3-inch manufacturing flaw in the form of a scratch or separation running vertically along one side, a small edge chip at the edge of the base, minor pits and soiling. There are no major chips or cracks, no readily visible crazing, no restoration of any type.
Provenance: The property of an old St. Louis family for generations.
