205: A HINKLEY & WILLIAMS LOCOMOTIVE WORKS RENDERING

Before the days of builder's photos, this rare and early rendering was created for the same purpose - to demonstrate the production of this early locomotive maker, Hinkley and Williams were in partnership from 1861 to 1872. This print is signed in the plate 'M.N. Forney' for Matthias Nace Forney (1835-1908) who was an American steam locomotive designer and builder and famous for the Forney type locomotive.
