The seated figure of Denis Papin, the French physicist, mathematician and inventor, best known for his inventions including that which lead to the pressure cooker and of the steam engine, additional classical decorative elements, double-sunk enamel dial with exposed escapement, time and strike movement signed Ansonia.
Measures 16 x 19 x 6.5 inches.
Good condition, noting wear to the rare original gilding, hairlines to the dial, good running condition at the time of inspection. We cannot guarantee the running or timekeeping condition of timepieces once removed from the auction premises.
